Calling All Deaf Talent

We aim to give Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing artists a creative and artistic home where they are the number one priority. We are always looking to give opportunities to new actors, creators, designers, and managers. If you are looking to expand your skill set or foster a new talent, we want to hear from you.

Sam Edwards New Play Reading Series

New York Deaf Theatre is dedicated to encouraging Deaf artists and the development of new work. With our Sam Edwards New Play Reading Series, our goal is to connect with Deaf playwrights and to bring them together with actors and a director in order to workshop a new script.

Following the workshop, the actors will perform several readings, including one presented in ASL only (others will have ASL/Voice actors). After each performance, the audience will be invited stay for a talk-back to discuss the play/musical and ask questions.

Script Submissions

If you have a script which has never been produced in NYC and would like NYDT to consider it for the reading series (and possible future productions), please send a digital submission.
